Art Ó Súilleabháin

Art Ó Súilleabháin was born in Galway. From the age of eight he was raised in Cornamona, in the north Connemara Gaeltacht, having returned from Boston USA with his parents. He learned Irish quickly in the schoolyard and in the area. He now lives in Carnacon, County Mayo. Art spent twenty years as Head Teacher of Carnacon Primary School and then spent eight years as ICT Advisor to schools in Mayo and nationwide. He was appointed as Director of Mayo Education Centre in December 2007. He is deeply involved with Immersion Courses in Irish for trainee teachers, with Hibernia College each summer in Cornamona. This new collection of poetry is his second collection in Irish for children. Many of his poems as based on events from his own family life and his own children - Aoibhinn, Eoin, Cian, Darach, Fiachra & Arthur. Some of the poems are based on classroom events and incidents as well as thoughts and musing from just anywhere.

Art writes poetry and stories for children and for adults in English as well as in Irish.
